90 Hour Supervised Practicums are for licensed teachers who are adding an endorsement onto their license. These teachers are referred to as ‘practicum teachers’ rather thanĀ ‘teacher candidates’.
- EDUC 573: Supervised Practicum
- Provides an opportunity for practicum teachers to observe and apply principles of education pedagogy and methodology in a school setting under the guidance of a classroom teacher and university supervisor. The elementary multiple subjects supervised practicum includes completion of an edTPA portfolio, scored by the university supervisor.
- SPED 578: Supervised Practicum
- Provides an opportunity for practicum teachers to work with students on IEPs in inclusive or special education settings. The special education supervised practicum includes completion of an edTPA portfolio, scored by the university supervisor.
- ESOL 476/576: Multilevel Supervised ESOL Practicum
- Practicum teachers complete a 90-hour supervised clinical experience working with students identified as English-Language Learners, and an ESOL practicum portfolio, scored by the university supervisor.
- RDNG 655: Multilevel Supervised Reading Practicum
- Practicum teachers complete a 90-hour supervised clinical experience working with students identified as having difficulties with reading, and a Reading practicum portfolio, scored by the university supervisor.
- EDUC 584: Practicum in TAG
- Provides practicum teachers with the opportunity to utilize knowledge and skills gained in coursework in a school setting. Practicum teachers will maintain a competency and reflection notebook documenting a wide range of experiences from assessment of rate and level of learning to providing direct services to students identified as talented and gifted. In addition, practicum teachers will participate in an individualized “TAG Plan” meeting with a parent and teacher (or other district representative).
