“Lance and I had just started our shift at Primary Children’s, and had hardly made it out of the volunteer office when we bumped into a group of women- one of them immediately recognizing us and dropping down to Lance’s level to give him a hug. Still hugging him, she started to explain that she remembered us from a previous visit to her daughter, a former patient. I learned that their entire stay had changed after our visit; her daughter had taken Lance’s card and taped it to her IV pole, and began to name everything ‘Lance’ (including the pole). It was neat to hear the impact that Lance had made after only visiting for such a short while; and to hear the amount of appreciation and gratitude that the entire family held for our work as a volunteer team. I sincerely value the opportunities and experiences that Lance and I share as part of ITA, and look forward to all of the ‘favorite memories’ to be made in the future! “
