We all start somewhere, so “place” is the touchstone the magazine uses for the pieces we publish. However we operate with no narrow definition of that word. The writers we feature take our readers somewhere crucial, defining, and relevant.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions should be sent via the online submission system as .doc file in 12 point Times New Roman, double-spaced, with one inch margins. The author’s name, address, email address, and phone number must be printed on the first page. Please number each page.
We accept simultaneous submissions but ask that you withdraw the submission if it is accepted elsewhere. Please do not send us more than one submission at a time in any genre. We do not accept previously published work, including work that has been published on a blog or other online platform.
While we are always open for submissions, our Assistant Editors only read during our fall and spring semesters. Work that is submitted between August and December or between February and April will be responded to faster. Please wait six months before inquiring about the status of a submission.
Writers receive payment for their work and one copy of the issue in which their work appears when it is released.
Please note, we do not publish active Pacific University students or alumni who graduated less than two years within submitting. After this two year period, however, we encourage all submissions.
