Mark Szymanski, PhD

Mark is a Professor of Education at Pacific University with a passion for designing digital learning experiences. He teaches courses in educational psychology and digital learning. Before landing at Pacific, Mark was a public school teacher in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and an assistive technology specialist at Lane Community College. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in Cognitive Science and Learning. Among other things, he’s currently interested in exploring how mindfulness, mobile devices, art, and games change how we think about teaching, learning, and developing healthy minds. He’s directed projects with teachers in South Africa to support digital HIV education; in the U.S. Virgin Islands to support mobile technology use in Algebra; and in Oregon to support digital learning and instructional coaching.
