About me

Hi, my name is Brittany Miller. I’m a student double-majoring in Politics & Government and Psychology, with a developmental focus. I am really interested in Precision Teaching (PT)–a niche form of behavioral psychology–and its modern implementation in education and anxiety mitigation. I want to see how classic psychological theories can be fused with modern interpretations, as well as neuroscience findings, to improve student and teacher ability, specifically in a classroom setting. Some of my inspirations are Carl Binder, Kent Johnson at Morningside Academy in Seattle, WA, and Michael Maloney. All three significantly contributed to the basis for PT literature in its educational applications, but each have taken a different route: Binder has switched his focus from classroom education to business model learning, Johnson has experimented with uses of PT in non-traditional, private-school classrooms, and Maloney has created evidence-based reading and writing curriculum that is entirely based on PT and charting.

While behavior analysis can be controversial, I hope to take the research that these scholars and others have completed in a new direction, hopefully by continuing my research at the University of Nevada Reno, in pursuit of a Ph.D. in Psychology, with a behavior analysis focus.
