Context
Individual
- Articulates one’s role as an artist or designer relative to personal and cultural values & events
- Articulates a personal set of guiding values relative to studio practices
- Describes relationship of work to short- and long-term goals
- Describes motivation and preparation for work
Disciplinary
- Identifies historical and contemporary domain(s) or genre(s) that practice references and draws from
- Identifies exemplars and models for individual practice
Social
- Describes the relevance of the work in today’s society
- Describes cultural values that drive the work
- Describes intended or implied audience (respondents) for work
- Describes the work’s intended impact on audience
Ecological
- Describes the origin(s) and extraction/manufacture process of resources used
- Describes potential environmental impacts of work and how/why those were or were not addressed
- References natural models or source material for work
Concept
Development
- States a clear and concise description of the idea being presented
- Presentation Incorporates visual evidence that supports the concept
- Explains how the body of work reflects and explores variations of the concept throughout
Analysis
- Explains relevance of concept relative to the generating spark
- Explains context relative to self, as well as to disciplinary, social, and ecological systems
- Identifies and justifies the formal attributes of the work in relation to the concept
