Nutrition and Children

Creating lifelong healthy habits to avoid chronic diseases and promote longevity.

Establishing nutrition and lifestyle behaviors that support a healthy life is an enormous responsibility parents have towards their children. What children learn to eat and what habits they acquire may be perpetuated into adulthood, dramatically affecting quality of life.

This is the foundational pyramid that CrossFit is based upon.

Nutrition- (Notice that this first needs to be laid in order to build up the pyramid). Why? It lays the molecular foundation inside our bodies for fitness and heath (both mentally and physically).

To learn in greater detail about the pyramid visit our “What is Crossfit?” page.

The Motto: “Meats, vegetables, nuts & seeds, some fruit, little starch, no sugar.”  –Coach Greg Glassman, CrossFitFounder and CEO

Things to remember:

  • Choose real foods over processed foods for every meal.
  • Maximize nutrient complexity, minimizing the insulin response, while providing appropriate amounts of essential nutrients.
  • Hydration is key for physical function as well as brain function. Drink water, avoid “high sugar” drinks or caffeine.
  • Importance of sleep/recovery to allow natural growth hormone to release through the body to repair damage and grow, avoid injury, & clear toxins from the brain.
